[Units of Measure](https://success.join.build/en/knowledge/project-settings?hsLang=en#units-of-measure) # Units of Measure ## Units of measure in Join are used to track and display unit costs (e.g., $/GSF, $/KEY, $/ACRE) Use units of measure to track the changes in key metrics as a project progresses and to see the cost per unit of these key metrics. In this article, you’ll learn how to [enable units of measure](https://success.join.build/en/knowledge/units-of-measure#enabling_units_measure), how to [enter quantities](https://success.join.build/en/knowledge/units-of-measure#entering_quantities_each_unit_measure), and how these key metrics are [used throughout Join](https://success.join.build/en/knowledge/units-of-measure#where_this_is_used_in_join). ***Best Practice:** Set up the Units that will be most helpful for the project team to understand the cost. We recommend at least filling out the GSF for use in [Benchmarking](https://success.join.build/en/knowledge/project-comparisons-report?hsLang=en).*     ### Enabling Units of Measure #### From the Settings Page To enable the units of measure from the Settings page, follow the steps below: 1. Click **Settings** in the [navigation panel](https://success.join.build/en/knowledge/how-to-navigate-in-a-project?hsLang=en#navigation_bar) 2. Scroll down to the **Units of Measure** section and click the **Manage Units of Measure** button 3. Select the check box for each unit of measure to be enabled 4. Click **Milestones** in the [navigation panel](https://success.join.build/en/knowledge/how-to-navigate-in-a-project?hsLang=en#navigation_bar) 2. Click the name of the Milestone 3. Click on the **Metrics** tab 4. Click the **Manage Units of Measure** button 5. Select the check box for each unit of measure to be enabled 6. Click **Milestones** in the [navigation panel](https://success.join.build/en/knowledge/how-to-navigate-in-a-project?hsLang=en#navigation_bar) 2. Click the name of the Milestone 3. Click on the **Metrics** tab 4.
