[Company Standards](https://success.join.build/en/knowledge/company-settings?hsLang=en#company-standards) # Project Types ## Standardize the list of project types used across your company.  Company administrators can create a customized list of project types to better organize projects in Join. Join provides a default list of project types, but this list can be fully customized to suit your company's preferences and needs. Project types can also contain subtypes, creating a two-level tiered hierarchy. ### Customizing Project Types  Company administrators can edit the list of project types by navigating to the **Company Settings** page, selecting the **Standards** tab, and clicking the **Project Types** section on the left side.  #### Creating Project Types Creating a new project type will add it to the list as a main (level 1) project type. To create a new project type, follow these steps: 1. Click the **+ Create Project Type** button 2. Enter a **Project Type Name** 3. To create a new project subtype, follow these steps: 1. Click the **Options** button to the right of any project type 2. Select **+ Add Subtype** 3. Select the project type this new subtype should be added to 4. Enter a **Project Subtype Name** 5. Deleting a project type removes it from the list entirely. Hiding a project type keeps it in the list but makes it unavailable for users to select on future projects. To delete or hide a project type, follow these steps:  1. Click the **Options** button to the right of any project type 2. Select either **Delete** or **Hide Type/Subtype** **![](https://success.join.build/hs-fs/hubfs/image-png-Apr-23-2024-08-36-27-8617-PM.png?width=160&height=229&name=image-png-Apr-23-2024-08-36-27-8617-PM.png)**  ***Note:** To delete a project type or subtype, you must first [reassign](https://success.join.build/en/knowledge/project-types#reassigning) all existing projects currently assigned to that project type or subtype.*  ### Reassigning Project Types on Existing Projects After customizing your project types, we recommend reviewing your existing projects and reassigning them to the updated project types. To do this, navigate to the **Company Settings** page, select the **Project Stats** tab, choose the projects to update, and click the **Edit Selected Projects** button.
