Save time by bulk importing your Items into Join if you have already started tracking ideas in another platform or spreadsheet.
Downloading the Item Import Template
The first step in importing a list of Items is to download the Item import template for your project using the following steps:
- Navigate to the Items page.
- Click the Import Items button in the top right.
- Click the Download Item import template hyperlink.
This will download the spreadsheet to your computer which contains the following tabs:
- Items - This is where you will enter your Item data.
- Instructions - This defines each field on the Items tab and tells you which ones are required.
- Assignee - This will list all the teammates on your project that can be used as the Assignee for your Items.
- Categorizations - Each categorization on your project will have a separate tab, listing the categories in each one that can be assigned to your Items.
Tip: Invite your teammates and create your project categorizations before exporting the template so they can be imported in bulk with your template.
Transferring Data to the Template
After downloading the template, you will need to transfer your Item data to the Items tab of the spreadsheet. You can do this by copy-pasting the data or creating formulas that link to other areas of your spreadsheet where the data currently lives. Be sure to follow the requirements outlined in the Instructions tab of the spreadsheet.
