Hiding Cost Trendline Events

Adjust your Cost Trendline chart by hiding events.

Throughout a project, your Cost Trendline may develop erroneous data points due to changes to Milestones or Items. These unintentional changes can distract from the story of your project. To help keep the team on track, you can hide these events and present a smooth trendline to the project team.

Hiding Cost Trendline Events

To hide events from the Cost Trendline, follow the steps below:

  1. Click the pencil icon at the top of the Cost Trendline.
  2. A dialog will open where you can choose which cost events you want to hide by clicking on the eye icon.
  3. When the preview of the chart matches your expectations, click the Done Editing button to update the Cost Trendline for the rest of your project team.

Tip: To make it easier to locate the correct event, you can click a specific cost event on the trendline chart, and the corresponding cost event will be highlighted in the list below.

All Milestones View

In the All Milestones view of the Cost Trendline, you can hide detailed cost change events made to your project's Estimate or Budget. To hide events from the All Milestones view of the Cost Trendline, the Display must be set to the Detailed view.

Active Milestone View

In the Active Milestone view of the Cost Trendline, you can hide Item related events which include creating Items, changing Item status, changing Item Estimates, attaching/detaching Options, and moving Items to the active Milestone.

 

Note: Each event shown as a dot on the Cost Trendline is timestamped at the time that the change was made in Join. These dates can't be manually overridden to past dates.

Editing Permission

Hiding events from the Cost Trendline requires being assigned to a role with Admin-level permissions for the Milestones feature.
